Online Notary
Sign your document from wherever you are
Upload the PDF, draw your signature with your mouse or finger, place it exactly where it belongs and download the signed file. For documents that also need to be notarised or commissioned, we handle that with you afterwards.
Step 1
Upload the PDF
Attach the document that needs your signature. Files stay private — nothing is listed publicly and the original is kept for the record.
Step 2
Draw your signature
Sign with a mouse, a trackpad or your finger on a phone or tablet. Your signature is previewed on the page before it is applied.
Step 3
Place and apply
Click where the signature should appear on each page. We write it into the PDF and record the date, the pages and the signer.
Step 4
Download or send on
Get the signed PDF immediately and by email. If your document also needs a notarial certificate or commission, we arrange that as a separate step.
What this service is — and what it is not
This workspace captures a signature and writes it into your PDF. That is what many employers, banks and counterparties ask for when they say “sign and return it”.
Some documents go further and require a Commissioner of Oaths or a Notary Public to witness you signing, attach a notarial certificate, or apply an apostille. That cannot be done by a form alone. We confirm whether your document needs it, and if it does, we arrange the witnessing step with you by video or in person.

What to have ready
- The document as a PDF, 20 MB or smaller.
- A government-issued photo identification matching the name you sign — the same requirements as an in-person appointment.
- An email address you can access, because the signed copy is sent there.
- If a date or witness line must be filled in, the exact wording you were given.
How your file is handled
- Documents are stored privately in encrypted object storage and are never served from a public URL.
- The signing page is reachable only through the unique link you are given, and the email you upload with must be repeated before anything is written into the PDF.
- We keep the original and the signed version, plus a record of each step.
- Ask us to delete a document at any time by writing to info@nearnotary.ca.
Identification required
- One piece of government-issued photo identification (passport, driver's licence or permanent resident card).
- For commissioning, the person signing must attend in person or on the approved video session.
- Original documents are required for any certified true copy.
- If a document is not in English or French, bring a certified translation.
